Significant Plant Species in Khao Sok National Park

This park is home to rare species like the giant Rafflesia with its large, foul-smelling flowers, the durable Yang Na tree for construction, and the medicinal Lingzhi Mushroom, crucial for the ecosystem and local traditions.

  • Rafflesia (Rafflesia kerrii): A very rare plant species and a highlight of Khao Sok National Park. The flower is large, with a diameter of about 50-90 centimeters, and emits a foul odor resembling rotting flesh. The flower is deep red with white spots.

  • Yang Na (Dipterocarpus alatus): A tall, large tree with strong wood, commonly used in construction and furniture making.

  • Krabak (Anisoptera costata): A large tree with a straight trunk, used in construction and considered an economic timber species.

  • Takian Thong (Hopea odorata): A large, durable tree with strong wood, also used in construction and furniture making.
