The Triangle Keelback

A species of water snake found in Southeast Asia, including Thailand. This small to medium-sized snake typically reaches a length of about 70-100 centimeters and is distinguished by the triangular patterns along its back, which give the snake its name.

The Triangle Keelback has an olive-green or light brown body with dark triangular markings along its back, making it easily recognizable. This snake usually inhabits areas near water sources such as rivers, streams, or ponds, as it is an excellent swimmer and primarily hunts in the water.

Its diet mainly consists of fish, frogs, and other small aquatic animals. The Triangle Keelback hunts by ambushing its prey and relies on its speed to capture them. This snake is non-venomous, so it poses no danger to humans.

In Khao Sok National Park, the Triangle Keelback can be found in wetland areas or near water bodies. While this snake is harmless, visitors should be cautious when exploring wet areas to avoid disturbing the snakes or other wildlife that inhabit these regions.

The Triangle Keelback is another example of the rich biodiversity found in Khao Sok National Park and plays an important role in the complex and thriving ecosystem of the area.
